You will be competing for a $30,000 1-to-1 laptop initiative technology grant. You will need to equip your classroom with as much technology as possible. When working on this project imagine you’re teaching in your preferred grade level. Use the Foed 3010 classroom as a model for your grant. Each piece of technology you purchase must include its tech specs within Excel. After you have completed the Excel portion of the project you then complete a write up within Word. Explain how each piece of technology will help you in your teaching profession.

You can choose to equip your classroom with PCs or Macs. Note: If you choose to purchase PCs for your classroom you will need to purchase additional software. You will need a movie editing program (Windows Movie Maker does not count), a music editing program, a photo editing program (Photoshop elements), and a web authoring program.

Items you must include:
Teacher station.
You can purchase a laptop or a desktop as your teacher station.
(Mac: Macbook Pro or iMac desktop ) (PC: Dell XPS series of laptops or Dell Studio XPS desktop)

Student laptops.
Each student must have a laptop. You will have 20 students in your classroom. If you decide to go the Mac route you can purchase a Mobile Learning Lab which includes a Charging/Storage cart, 20 laptops (macbooks), Wireless Router (Airport Extreme). If you decide to go the PC route you will need to purchase each one separately.
Charging/Storage cart
20 laptops
Wireless Router
Printer (laser jet)

(Note: You do not have to purchase a extended warranty.)

Software:
You will have to purchase three pieces of software. I suggest buying your software from either Tom Snyder Productions or Riverdeep. They provide product tours and separate software by grade level. If a site license is not available take the single price and multiply by 21.

Microsoft Office:
You will need to purchase office for your students.

Office for Mac= $149 x 21

Office for PC= $149 x 21
(Note: I am aware of alternatives such as Open Office and web based authoring programs. However, Microsoft Office is the standard in business today.)

Data projector:
1700 lumens or higher

Miscellaneous:
(If you have money left over)

Flashdrives
Still Cameras
Digital Video Cameras
Digital Document Projectors (Elmo)
Assistive Technology
Reading Pens
SmartBoards
iPods
